How do you optimize copy writing for different social platforms? ![]() So we hosted a Facebook Live for half an hour of the guy playing the machine. We go where the people are and engage with them by looking at what they are talking about in the comment threads.įor the piece we did on the Sounds of the Nightmare Machine, a lot of people were interested in hearing the instrument performed. YouTube is where fans are more likely to watch an entire story, versus Facebook where we try to increase sharing and awareness. Trisha: As a social-first platform, we realize people are more likely to view and share our stories on platforms like Facebook and YouTube rather than on our website. And in terms of promoting different content, it’s great when we are able to cross-promote our videos using supplemental social content, like a Snapchat or Instagram story that links back to our original video. They’re able to provide us with useful data when we need it. Sydney: We are very lucky that we have a team devoted to analyzing and understanding audience intelligence. How do you promote content to different types of audience groups and regions? Our content goes out live at 2:00AM on YouTube everyday, and we publish videos on Facebook during the course of the day the feeds on Facebook are algorithmic, so people will eventually see it on their timeline at some point. Trisha: I am responsible for writing and editing social copy along with publishing on Facebook, and Instagram. That person is tasked with coming up with fun and engaging social components for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat. Sydney: Once a story gets approved, a member of the publishing team will be assigned as a social producer. How do the social components of a story come together after it’s been approved for production? It molds the company’s social presence through copywriting and engaging social posts that capture and hold fans’ attention, ultimately cutting through the clutter throughout the social landscape. The Social Publishing department publishes and markets video content across Great Big Story’s social accounts, in addition to developing its newsletter, site playlists and much more. ![]()
